As you may be aware the index linked 3 and 5 year certificates have been withdrawn and there are now no index linked issues available. This has been a useful investment tool offering a real rate of return above inflation with tax free returns at low cost.

We have recommended the 3 year issues to many clients and it is worthwhile noting that the opportunity to reinvest maturing certificates does remain an option. If in doubt as to the best course of action then do call. The withdrawal of these certificates, whilst disappointing is not surprising and we will have to wait and see whether any suitable replacements are offered at some point in the future.
